Every year over 4.5 million people need a blood transfusion and Park Cedar Rapids wants to encourage the community to help provide this lifesaving resource and get a little something in return. Anyone who volunteers to donate blood at any of the Park Cedar Rapids hosted blood drives is eligible to have up to $25 worth of citation fees written off!
Blood drives will be hosted at 349 4th Avenue SE, in the MVRBC Donor Bus on the following dates:
Friday, June 17th from 10:30 am to 1:000 pm
Thursday, June 30th, from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm
Wednesday, July 27th, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm
Friday August 5th, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm
Spaces are limited, so please schedule your donation appointment in advance. To donate, please visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 2998 to locate the drive. Or, contact Park Cedar Rapids at 319-365-7275.
Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission form available through www.bloodcenter.org) and weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. or MVRBC Donor Card is required to donate. For questions about eligibility, please call the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at (800) 747-5401.
Volunteer donors will have an opportunity to dismiss up to $25 worth of citation fines, be entered in to MVRBC’s free car and gas card promotion and receive a free t-shirt. Monthly parkers and those without parking citations are still welcome and encouraged to participate.
Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors.
Last year’s drives resulted in over 20 successful donations that had the potential to help nearly 100 patients needing blood transfusions in the area.
